I'm so far from the broadcast stations that I get no reception up here. I could get satellite, but I can't imagine paying for the stuff that is being presented in the media.
I have a TV and I watch movies and documentaries, but I don't really want whatever is being beamed into homes. My grown kids tell me that is absurd.
What I think is absurd is to have all those commercials and sound bites bombarding me. I don't mind a little entertainment of an evening, but keeping all that racket going in the daytime can only lead to a life of noisy desperation.
Fortunately, I have a place to roam overlooking a wild river. When the family comes up, and they start getting restless with the blank television set, I suggest we all go outside for a walk down to the river.
Because of the many streams that flow even in the most developed residential areas, I can usually find a wild place to walk when visiting people who live in town. Riparian life, that's for me.
